Christmas gift shopping can be a surprisingly tricky time. I love buying gifts for people, but I’m a bit of a perfectionist so I can tend to feel like I have to come up with the absolute best Christmas gift idea ever! This often means that I come up with tons of ideas during the year, spot things in the shops months earlier to make a mental note of….and yet by the time it comes to December I’ve forgotten it all and am left empty-handed and stressing about Christmas presents at the last minute! Honestly, I’ve been known to be that person rushing to the shops a day or two before on a last-minute Christmas gift mission, or praying that their Amazon prime delivery gets through on the Christmas post in time! This year, I decided enough was enough, and thought I’d share some Christmas gift guides with you all, not only to help you avoid this problem but also to get me thinking about my Christmas gift plans earlier on and find some fab gifts for my loved ones! This Christmas gift guide is ‘for Her’, but I’ve also rounded up my picks ‘for Him‘ and ‘for Mum‘ (click through to see more!) I chose some of my favourite things that would be fab for gifting your girlfriend, sister, daughter, friends, or…let’s face it….maybe yourself?! I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets distracted Christmas shopping and buys things for themself, or you might spot some pieces you want to add to your own Christmas list! Enjoy!
I’ve written a whole post here about why I think perfume is always a failsafe Christmas gift! And it really is one of the things I always hope to find under the tree – it always feels like a treat! Chloe’s signature scent is a timeless and beautiful fragrance that I really think could work for anyone no matter their age or perfume preferences. Plus the bottle design gives it a really luxury feel. My latest obsession is Gucci Bloom – it’s such a gorgeous fragrance and smells divine! This was part of a beautiful gift set from John Lewis which you can read about here. It’s a great way to make giving perfume a bit extra special!
Again, jewellery is a timeless gift that always keeps on giving! I don’t think you can go wrong with a simple but gorgeous pendant necklace – it will always been in fashion and again works for anyone no matter their age or taste. I really love this silver circle pendant from Nude Jewellery. It’s real silver which makes it extra special and it literally goes with anything – whether you’re wearing it alone with an LBD for a classic dressed-up look, or layering it with some other pendant and chains to wear more casually. Nude Jewellery have some stunning pieces in their collection to choose from, a real one-stop shop for your jewellery needs! Browse their collection here.
The one piece of jewellery (does it count as jewellery…?) that I will always wear is a watch. Often it’s my only accessory and that’s why I love a big statement watch. I’m in love with this design from Wesson & Co. The huge face looks really chic and stylish and the simple design and black leather strap means it goes with everything! I can’t stop wearing it. They also do a Christmas gift set that comes with a rose gold bangle to match with the rose gold metal on the face, which is a really cute idea and adds something a bit ‘extra’ to giving the watch as a gift!
It might be cliche, but all the classic ‘girl’ gifts really do work all year round. I don’t know about you. but I don’t buy nice underwear nearly enough. I mean, it’s expensive! I’m always going to choose buying a new outfit over a new underwear set so having a gorgeous matching set really feels like a treat to me, and something I’d be more than happy to unwrap at Christmas! I love this set from Dorina, the red floral detail gives it a bit more of a festive vibe! The silky material feels really luxe and it’s super comfy. I an find it tricky to find underwear that’s a good fit for my cup-size (30D incase anyone was wondering) but this is perfect!
I don’t know if this a sign of me getting old, but you can literally never go wrong with a candle! It’s the kind of thing I used to buy my Mum when I was younger and think it was a bit lame…but I’m pretty sure I’m a candle addict these days. I can’t help it, I just love ’em! This one is to die for – a gorgeous Amber, vanilla musk scent from Welton London. The scent is really strong and really makes your whole room smell amazing when it’s burning, and even when it’s not! I got this beauty from Amara who have an amazing selection of different brands and scents – honestly I could have bought them all!
We all know what Christmas is really about…drinking and eating! A nice bottle of tipple is always a winner at Christmas (although it might not last all that long!) Alcohol always seems an easy present when you’re buying for a guy, but for girls it seems a little harder as we don’t have a ‘signature’ drink in the same way as most (beer-loving or whisky-loving) guys! Luckily Gordon’s have the answer this year with this amazing pink gin! It’s a totally yummy upgrade on my usual favourite G&T – flavoured with strawberries, raspberries and redcurrant to give your G&T a tasty twist. Oh, and it turns your drink pink which is what every girl wants at Christmas right?! It’s available in most big supermarkets, and despite being delish it won’t break the bank either!
Probably yet another sign of getting old, but I’ve got really into my skincare this year too! From fancy lotions and potions to at-home treatment tools. my latest discovery is Sensse who make the most amazing (and pretty-looking, fyi) beauty tools! The pink one is their silicone facial brush which has different pulse settings to deeply cleanse, exfoliate and massage your face while washing for a super-radiant glow! It’s also great for targeting fine line areas too with the massage mode. It’s easy to use, cleaner than using a non-silicone version and it’s really affordable too! This copper, funny-looking (let’s be honest) device is a facial roller that massages the contours of your face and provides a mini work-out for your facial muscles to tone and improve elasticity! Both provide an easy at-home way to look after your skin at a better level, basically bringing clinic and spa techniques to your own bathroom! I love them, and I love the instagram-friendly design too which makes them a bit more of a cute Christmas gift to give! You can buy both on Amazon here.
A subscription with a difference
Remember when Christmas would mean getting a magazine subscription to your favourite mag? Well, print media might be a thing of the past, but subscriptions certainly aren’t! It seems like subscription boxes are everywhere at the moment, from beauty to food, or even your favourite alcohol! Well, The Fragrance Shop have recently launched the mother of all subscription services – Scent Addict, the perfume subscription box! Every month you get a 15ml tester of a new fragrance to try – the perfect way to flirt with a new fragrance without having to commit to the full bottle! Even better, if you decide it is the one for you, you get a voucher for your monthly subscription cost to redeem against a full-size bottle. And it comes with this cute carry-around mini perfume spritzer so you can carry your favourite scent in your handbag easily! Check it out here.
I’m not really a chocolate person for the rest of the year (Haribo is my weakness instead) but it’s like something happens to me at Christmas and I just want to gorge on as many chocolatey treats as possible! Seriously, I went home to decorate the Christmas tree last weekend and me and my family munched our way through 2 of those giant Christmas chocolate tins already…! Fancy chocolates (or any foodie treats if chocolate isn’t your bag) are a lovely luxury Christmas gift to get. I discovered Godiva at a couple of events this year and their chocolate is by far the best I’ve ever tasted! It’s a real treat and the flavour combinations are unlike anything else you can by. This ‘icons’ collection is £10 for just 6 chocs, but I can guarantee it’s worth it if you’re gifting a foodie and want to get something a bit special! You can buy it on Amazon’s new Luxury Food & Drink store.
A good book
I love gifting (and getting) books at Christmas. There’s nothing like having a pile of reading material to dig into after the festivities. I never used to be a non-fiction reader, but lately I have been really inspired by creative, mindful & life-improving reads! It’s probably since setting up my own business and working for myself, but I find these kind of reads are a great insight and an amazing way to keep learning and improving! This creative mindfulness book by Wendy Ann Greenhalgh looks right up my street – it helps you to become more mindful and self aware through creative projects in the book to stop, breath and get more in touch with yourself!
