FOOD | Peggy Porschen Cakes Review

Peggy Porschen is probably the most instagrammable cafe in London. There, I said it. If you’re not already familiar with the pink flowered front from your social media feed then….are you even really on instagram? I can’t lie, this place is just the prettiest cafe spot ever! Pink walls, co-ordinated tables and teacups, a pink retro bike and flowers galore all make up this very insta-friendly hangout, and I’m going to be honest when I was there it was difficult not to spend the whole time instagramming, well, everything! (Honestly, I don’t know if it was something to do with the light, but the place is so pretty it’s like it’s impossible to take a bad picture there!) But, it turns out as well as being perfect for doorway outfit shots and stocking up on millennial pink instagram fodder for the next month, they actually do a pretty mean tea and cake too! Vanity Fair actually called Peggy Porschen’s cakes ‘the best cupcakes in the world’, so of course I just had to try them. I visited with Rosie from Miss Nutritionist because we’d both wanted to go for ages since seeing other people’s instal-snaps of the pretty decor! And after taking a few outfit snaps of our own we nabbed the best table seat outside in the sun and sat down for some tea, cake and catch ups.

The tea menu is pretty extensive, with loads of yummy sounding herbal infusions, but I went with the usual breakfast tea because, let’s face it – it’s just the best one to go with cake! The teacups and saucers all perfectly match the pink decor to and the cupcakes were picture perfect! We went for the Strawberry Champagne flavour which were absolutely delish! I’ll be honest, £5 a cupcake is pretty steep, but it is the perfect place to treat yourself. We were so lucky with the weather too, I easily could have stayed sitting out in the sun and sipping tea all afternoon. Unfortunately, there were quite a lot of fellow instagrammers hustling for our table because we had the most picturesque spot in the house (I swear there was one girl there just to take outfit photos, not even ordering anything!) so we didn’t stay for too long. But I’m sure I’ll definitely be back before too long! It really is the perfect not-so-secret place to go for a girly treat and I can’t wait to take more friends there, or my Mum next time we fancy some tea and cake!

Peggy Porschen is found on 116 Ebury Street, Belgravia, London SW1W 9QQ. For more info, check out their website here.
