BEAUTY | Katy Perry Mad Love Perfume Review

I love trying out a new fragrance, especially when it’s a new season. Is it just me who kind of wants to have different perfumes for different times of year? The latest one I’ve tried out is Katy Perry Mad Love. I’m not going to lie, I often steer away from celebrity fragrances with the assumption that they won’t smell as good but this one really surprised me!

First things first, can we talk about how cute the bottle is?! Blush pink and marble, it’s seriously perfect for everyone’s insta-feeds right now! I love the marble stopper and the cute fairytale potion bottle shape. Although it’s a bit bulky to fit in your bag for a night out it’s definitely an instagrammable addition to any dressing table. I couldn’t resist photographing mine with some flat lays as it goes so perfectly with my room interior style right now!

And as for the fragrance….it’s seriously packed full of scent. The top notes are sweet fruity florals – apple, strawberry, peony petals and jasmine – to be honest with you, the kind of scents I wouldn’t normally go for…but then as the scent develops the base notes of sandalwood, musk and coconut wood appear to round out the fragrance and give it the deeper, oriental kind of scent that I always love. It definitely grows on you! Just like the concept behind the perfume intends, you end up giving in to the intoxicating scent and falling a little bit in love with it! It’s quite a strong scent, which is great because it lasts really well and develops into a muskier scent after you first spritz. Katy’s own recommendation is not to spritz onto your skin but to spray the air and walk into it which gives the perfume a more subtle fragrance on your skin and hair, as well as the added bonus of making your room smell yummy! (I’ve just spritzed mine before writing this post and my bedroom smells delish!)

Overall, Katy perry Mad Love is a fun, fruity and seductive scent, perfect for this time of year with Christmas holidays and plenty of parties on the horizon! I’d definitely recommend it as a going out scent, particularly for a slightly younger audience given the youthful, flirty feel of the fragrance. It’s also a great price point, only £24 for 50ml or £40 for 100ml as featured here.
