This season for me has been all about style staples. My style has evolved a lot over the past year or so, partly from working in fashion and spending most of my time in an office, partly from moving to London, and partly I think just from getting  bit older (sigh) and less crazy in my outfit choices! I really like the change though, I’m finding myself buying more key pieces than impulse buys and going for more classic looks that I can re-wear from season to season. Marks & Spencer to me will always be a place for classic buys. Their fashion offering over the past few year has really upped it’s game and it’s surprising how many younger, on-trend pieces they have each season! I took part in their #StartWith campaign to show how this season’s classic key pieces can be styled up in different ways, perfect for my current style habits!

I chose this beautiful oversized silk shirt – a classic if I ever saw one! The ochre colour is perfect for Autumn and the longline style gives it a bit more of a modern edge and makes it more versatile – it works as a dress (with something underneath to protect your modesty, obvi), worn loose as an oversized shirt or tucked in with something higher waisted. I’m a big fan of the half-in, half-out untucked look too so the length makes it great for that too! I’ve styled it in two ways here but I can already tell I’ll be re-wearing it a lot – I’m thinking loose over a lace slip dress, underneath denim flared dungarees (the yellow colour fits with 70s styling perfectly), or with a pair of leather trousers and heels for a dinner date. I’m sure it will be one of those pieces in my wardrobe that gets rework every season!

These photos were actually taken a few months ago while I was in the Lake District (I got some pretty odd looks taking blog photos there I can tell you!) but now that the campaign is live on M&S (check out the pager here) I wanted to share them! The shirt is part of their AW16 collection and although the yellow colour is currently out of stock the white version is absolutely perfect for the ultimate classic dressing.

What do you think of today’s look? How would you style this shirt?

I know that yellow is a great trend this season, but i don’t know why I find this an act of courage. I mean that to me this colour has great visual impact. Probably I should dare more.

I like your modern and simple style, also the way you combine the colours in your outfit.
